Bayer Leverkusen vs. FC Augsburg: Gregoritsch’s two goals put Augsburg ahead before Schick earns Leverkusen a draw

Kofane gives Leverkusen the halftime lead

After an early Augsburg chance, Leverkusen took the lead in the 18th minute. Kofane controlled Tapsoba’s long pass, turned past Matsima and scored. Diaby, Maza and Moreira helped create further chances for Bayer, but the visitors did not extend their lead.

One of those chances came before halftime when Maza had an attempt cleared off the line by Banks. Augsburg reached the break trailing 1–0, leaving the match open despite Leverkusen’s first-half chances.

Gregoritsch scores twice after the break

Augsburg drew level in the 50th minute. Behrens played a reverse pass to Gregoritsch, who scored as Leverkusen goalkeeper Flekken failed to deal with the situation. Five minutes later, Gregoritsch headed in Rieder’s corner to put Augsburg ahead 2–1.

Schick answers in the closing minutes

Leverkusen brought on Schick, Doue, Tillman and Terrier while chasing an equalizer. Dahmen made multiple saves as Bayer created chances late, and Augsburg held its lead into the closing minutes.

In the 89th minute, Matsima’s clearance reached Tillman, whose shot Schick diverted into the goal with a backheel. That equalizer completed the scoring in a 2–2 draw: Leverkusen’s early lead had given way to Gregoritsch’s quick double before Schick supplied the final reply.
