Schalke 04 vs. FC Augsburg: Augsburg beat Schalke 3–0 with goals from Gregoritsch, Kade and Ribeiro

Schalke create chances before Augsburg’s opener

Schalke threatened twice in the opening 15 minutes. Matsima cleared Sylla’s effort off the line in the sixth minute, and Dahmen saved an attempt from Ljubicic in the 15th. Augsburg went ahead three minutes later when Gregoritsch scored from Kade’s pass. Schalke had chances to score first, but Gregoritsch’s goal gave Augsburg the lead.

Karius also made two first-half saves, denying Kade and Rieder before the break. Neither added to Gregoritsch’s goal in the opening half, so Augsburg led 1–0 at halftime. Kade had already contributed to that lead as the provider for Gregoritsch.

Schallenberg is sent off in the second half

Schalke went down to 10 players in the second half when Schallenberg was sent off for bringing down Gregoritsch as the Augsburg forward approached goal. The dismissal was another significant event in a match Augsburg had led since the 18th minute.

Kade and Ribeiro complete the scoring

Kade added Augsburg’s second goal in the 79th minute. Rieder supplied the pass, and Kade’s shot went in off the inside of the post. After setting up the first goal, Kade was directly involved in Augsburg’s second as the scorer.

Augsburg scored again in the second minute of added time. Substitute Ribeiro converted Seol’s pass for the third goal, completing a 3–0 win over Schalke 04. Gregoritsch, Kade and Ribeiro accounted for Augsburg’s goals, while Schalke finished without scoring despite its two early chances.
