Riquelme’s Goal Gives Real Betis a 1–0 Win Over Real Sociedad

Chances Before Halftime

Oskarsson shot over after a counterattack involving Yangel Herrera, giving Real Sociedad a chance to score before the break. Bernal also missed narrowly before halftime. With neither attempt producing a goal, Real Betis and Real Sociedad reached halftime tied 0–0. Both teams still had their first goal to find when play resumed.

Riquelme Scores in the Second Half

Aramburu tested Valles with a powerful attempt, but Valles pushed it away. Betis then took the lead in the 62nd minute when Riquelme finished a passing move. It was the only goal of the match, turning the scoreless halftime tie into a Betis lead.

Betis had a chance to score again, but Remiro prevented a second goal with his left foot. That stop left Sociedad one goal behind and still seeking an equalizer.

Sociedad’s Search for an Equalizer

Sociedad had further openings. Sucic hit the post, while Sergio Gomez hit the side-netting. In the 82nd minute, Oyarzabal released Oskarsson, but Valles saved Oskarsson’s attempt. Zakharyan entered late as Sociedad continued to seek an equalizer. None of those chances changed the score, and Riquelme’s goal stood as the difference in Real Betis’ 1–0 win over Real Sociedad.
